AI technology in healthcare can assist with diagnosis, developing a personalised treatment plan, and adequate follow-up. In contrast to, for example, building an MRI scanner, the development and inner workings of AI technology are substantially less well documented. Doctors and patients can, therefore, not trust the technology at a comparable level to the MRI scanner. In this ELSA lab, we study the technological, legal, and clinical-ethical aspects of AI technology that is certified to be used responsibly.
